Workshop Description

CORA based leveling osteotomy (CBLO) is a unique procedure that modifies the tibial plateau angle in order to prevent cranial translation (cranial drawer) and tibial thrust in the cranial cruciate deficient stifle. Advantages of the technique include ease of the osteotomy, non-articular osteotomy, and rapid healing of the osteotomy. Rapid healing and early return to function are the result of complete bone contact along the surface of the osteotomy and ability to apply compression at the osteotomy. Numerous advantages of the technique have been identified and will be presented in lecture format. In vitro and in vivo outcome studies will be presented as well as complications and their management.

Workshop Objectives

Hands-on training led by expert instructors equals enhanced proficiency and improved surgical skills. Build your confidence with accuracy and efficiency:

At the end of the course, each participant will be able to:

  • Identify the position of the normal proximal CORA in the canine tibia on a lateral radiographic view
  • Identify modalities to facilitate diagnosis of the CrCL deficient stifle
  • Describe the surgical anatomy and approach to the stifle
  • Describe procedures to examine the menisci and identify tears in the medial or lateral meniscus
  • Describe the CORA based osteotomy as a procedure to treat ACL injury in the dog
  • Prescribe a post-operative rehabilitation program for the client
  • Identify and manage post-operative complications
