This one-day workshop will address the challenges faced when presented with a dog affected by laryngeal paralysis.  This course will aid both your medical and surgical decision making in these often-urgent cases, as well as pre- and post-operative management.

Course Description

You will learn about the pathophysiological changes associated with laryngeal paralysis and the surgical techniques currently recommended to treat these cases including emergency stabilisation and temporary tracheostomy, arytenoid lateralization and partial laryngectomy.This course will aid both your medical and surgical decision making in these often-urgent cases, as well as pre- and post-operative management.

Delegates will have plenty of opportunity to practice surgical techniques in a wet-lab setting.

Course Objectives

At the end of this workshop delegates should be able to:

• Evaluate laryngeal function of the dog

• Become familiar with surgical anatomy of the canine larynx

• Perform temporary tracheostomy and arytenoid lateralisation.
