May 10-12, 2024
Join Movora for our IMEX External Skeletal Fixation Level I: Distal Limb Traumatology workshop presented by IMEX Veterinary at the Movora Education Center in Boston, MA.
Description
Explore external skeletal fixation (ESF) in our introductory workshop, specifically designed to address both routine and challenging fractures of the distal limb. This program is structured to provide the fundamental principles of ESF, covering application techniques, surgical approaches, complications, and postoperative care while gaining additional exposure to hybrid ESF for juxta-articular fractures. The course combines lectures with practical application in dry labs, followed by hands-on experience in wet labs to reinforce acquired skills.
Learning Objectives
- Gain knowledge of surgical approaches while understanding bone-specific considerations.
- Acquire skills to assess and manage fractures effectively, with a primary focus on promoting proper fracture healing.
- Learn and practice techniques for stabilizing simple fractures using linear ESF.
- Familiarize yourself with the challenges of more complicated fractures and explore the application of hybrid ESF for stabilization.
- Develop skills in radiographic interpretation to optimally manage patients during the healing period.
- Recognize potential complications associated with ESF and how to manage them.
- Develop confidence in dealing with common fractures, laying the groundwork for more advanced fracture management workshops.
