In this one day workshop, participants will further enhance their understanding, building upon the foundational knowledge gained in the fundamentals course. The workshop will delve into more advanced topics within the realm of ECC, including but not limited to, the intricacies of blood gas analysis, transfusion therapy protocols, and the management of complex cases involving patients with comorbidities.

This session aims to provide participants with a comprehensive and in-depth exploration of these advanced concepts, equipping them with valuable skills and insights to excel in their practice within the field of Emergency and Critical Care.

Course Description

In this workshop participants will build on their knowlege from the fundamentals course. Presentation of more advanced topics in ECC such as blood gas analysis, transfusion therapy and complicated cases with comorbidities Not only will these procedures be demonstrated, but you will have a chance to practice them yourself, working in groups of no more than two participants per station.

Key Skills

• Interpretation and practical application of blood gas results to guide patient treatment

• Transfusion medicine: appropriate selection and administration of blood products

• Managing patients with both cardiac and renal disease: walking the tightrope.

Value to Your Practice

Once you have learned the basics, what then? This course will focus on application of basic principles and  implementation of more advanced skills to optimize patient outcomes. Practitioners thinking of pursuing ANZCVS exams will enjoy a taste of the depth required for memberships.
