Join us on May 16-17th 2024 for the Practical Dentistry for Veterinarians workshop sponsored by Kahuvet at The Kahuvet Education Center in Auckland, New Zealand!

This practical 2-day workshop will focus around building a solid foundation of practical skills and knowledge in veterinary dentistry that can be used in everyday practice. This will encompass the complete oral health examination, dental radiography techniques and interpretation techniques for extracting teeth (exodontics) and how to avoid common mistakes that may lead to complications. This will not only provide the best treatment options for your clients’ cats and dogs but also aim to make each dental procedure more efficient and potentially less challenging.

Registration for this Workshop is coordinated through Kahuvet and Practical CPD. Continuing to registration will take you to their website.

Course Description

Dental disease is the most common disease seen in companion animal practice and can have a significant impact on our patients’ quality of life. Right from the consultation room, veterinarians are discussing diagnostic and treatment options in every patient they see, and in the surgery suite, veterinarians are spending a significant amount of time on dentistry every day.

Course Objectives

At the end of this workshop delegates should be able to:

  • Develop a sound knowledge of dental anatomy and function

  • Perform a full oral health assessment, including recognition of common diseases

  • Know when to save teeth rather than extract teeth

  • Develop confidence in recognising and treating feline-specific diseases

  • Confidently take diagnostic radiographs

  • Recognise normal anatomy and interpret common dental pathology on dental radiographs

  • Know where and how to place dental nerve blocks and understand potential complications and how to avoid them

  • Confidently perform dental extractions, and design appropriate periodontal flaps for surgical extractions

  • Understand how to minimise and prevent extraction complications

Value to Your Practice

Dental disease is the most common disease seen in small animal practice, with vets spending a good proportion of their surgical time on dentistry each day. Learning the techniques involved at this hands-on workshop will allow you to offer a high standard service to your clients.
