Workshop Description

The initial lab will involve pre-surgical templating of the cadaveric specimens’ stifle radiographs, conducted on a laptop with instructor assistance and review. Participants will be paired into groups of 2. Participants will perform a modified cranial closing wedge ostectomy (mCCWO), a double cut CORA-Based Leveling Osteotomy (CBLO) and a combined TPLO with cranial closing wedge osteotomy in plastic bone models. 

Learning Objectives

Following successful completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Accurately diagnose dogs with excessive tibial plateau angle (eTPA) 
  • Determine which cases of excessive TPA require advanced surgical corrective procedures 
  • To understand the different surgical techniques available for the stabilization of a stifle joint with an excessive TPA 
  • Understand the differing selection criteria for the optimal surgical treatment for cases of eTPA 
  • Become proficient in digital pre-operative surgical planning 
  • Perform and develop comfort with the surgical execution of a select number of surgical techniques used to treat eTPA

     

    CE Credits - RACE Approved

    This workshop will meet the requirements for 5 CE hours of continuing education credits in a jurisdiction that recognizes AAAVSB RACE approval.
