Join Dr Mark Glyde and Dr Terri Schiller for this one day, practical, cadaver workshop designed specifically for Surgical Residents. 

Targeting advanced Medial Patella Luxation (MPL) cases such as those with high grade III and  grade IV luxation and significant secondary bone abnormalities including distal femoral varus and femoral torsional deformities, this workshop will cover all aspects of managing advanced MPL cases including assessment, imaging, decision-making, surgical planning, surgical approaches and techniques.

Course Description

The following will be included:

Presentations/Discussion:

• Clinical assessment and orthopaedic examination of advanced cases of MPL
• Imaging assessment of MPL including radiography and computed tomography 
• Corrective surgical procedures including distal femoral osteotomy (DFO)
• Advanced MPL case study discussion

Planning:

• DFO planning utilising the CORA methodology

Practical Cadaver Sessions:

• Block Recession Trochleoplasty
• Partial osteotomy for Tibial Tuberosity Transposition (TTT)
• Complete osteotomy for TTT (Pins and Tension Band Wire)

Synthetic Bone Model Practical:

• Distal Femoral Varus correction via DFO using synthetic bone models with pathology
