Are you comfortable with repair of simple fractures? Are you looking to move to the next level and take on more challenging fracture repair? If so, this is the course for you. This  two-day workshop will allow participants to understand and advance their knowledge of fractures.

Workshop Description

This specialized workshop offers an in-depth exploration of advanced techniques for managing complex fractures, combining theoretical insights with hands-on practice. Participants will learn to assess and treat a range of challenging fractures, including subtrochanteric femur fractures, comminuted distal tibial fractures with double plate application, and articular humeral fractures. The course also covers acetabular fractures and pancarpal arthrodesis, providing a comprehensive overview of these intricate repair procedures.

The workshop features expert-led lectures and clinical case presentations, complemented by practical sessions where participants will engage in fracture repair using plastic bone models and cadaveric specimens. Postoperative management strategies and evaluation techniques, including the use of postoperative radiographs, will also be discussed to ensure participants achieve optimal outcomes in their practice.

Registration includes free access to our online Principles of Fracture Repair Course (3 CE RACE approved), offering foundational knowledge to enhance the in-person learning experience. 

 

 

Workshop Objectives

  • Acquire advanced skills in the assessment and repair of subtrochanteric femur fractures, comminuted distal tibial fractures with double plate application, and articular humeral fractures.
  • Develop expertise in managing acetabular fractures and performing pancarpal arthrodesis.
  • Gain hands-on experience with advanced implant contouring and multiplanar case assessment through practical exercises.
  • Improve proficiency in postoperative management and evaluation techniques using radiographic imaging.
  • Build confidence and accuracy in performing complex fracture repairs and stabilization procedures through interactive learning and expert guidance

Prerequisites and Intended Audience

This workshop is appropriate for 2nd and 3rd year residents, or 1st year residents who have taken a previous Resident Advanced Fracture workshop with us and who have an interest in improving their orthopedic knowledge and skills.

CE Credits - RACE Approved

This workshop has been submitted for AAAVSB RACE approval.
