An advanced course designed for veterinary surgical residents with significant orthopedic interest and experience, focusing on hybrid and circular external fixation principles and emerging trends.
This three-day agenda covers the construction of frames for complex fractures, non-unions, bone defects, antebrachial length discrepancies, and pre-surgical planning to correct common angular limb deformities. Modern biomechanical and surgical principles will be discussed, providing attendees with the latest advancements in external fixation.
By attending, veterinary surgical residents can refine their orthopedic skills, deepen their knowledge, and stay up-to-date with the latest surgical techniques and advancements in the field.
Objectives
- Develop advanced skills in constructing frames for fractures, non-unions, bone defects, and other limb salvage techniques
- Conduct a pre-surgical plan to effectively correct common angular limb deformities
- Correct antebrachial length discrepancies for optimal surgical outcomes
- Apply modern biomechanical and surgical principles when correcting elbow incongruities
- Learn how to incorporate imaging technology and 3D printing into pre-surgical planning
