Movora Surgery: Use of plates and screws for the internal fixation of simple fractures
Course
Instructors
Workshop Description
In this workshop, we will first review fracture classification and the clinical approach to fractures. We will then address the approach to long bones. After that, we will dive into the main topic: osteosynthesis using plates and screws. More specifically, we will cover the different types of plates/screws and discuss the principles of their application. We will review fracture healing and highlight the possible complications associated with this type of osteosynthesis. The practical portion will involve handling all the material required to perform a simple osteosynthesis on synthetic bone models. We will then repeat this approach on cadaveric models with fractures created using a sagittal saw, after refining our technique on various long bones.
This workshop is presented in English; if you would prefer to attend the workshop in French, please follow this link to see the workshop on February 6th.
