Workshop Description

This workshop will be a lecture/workshop format. Applied anatomy and surgical approaches commonly used by veterinarians will be addressed. Craniolateral approach to the hip joint, Stifle arthrotomy and identification of intraarticular structures, and approach to the shoulder/elbow joint are joint procedures that will be performed in the workshop. Approach to the femur, tibia, humerus, and radius/ulna are long bone surgeries to be performed in the workshop.

Workshop Objectives

 

At the end of the course, each participant will be able to: 

  1. Identify proper surgical planes for approaches to the hip, stifle, shoulder, and elbow 

  2. Identify proper surgical muscle planes for approaches to the femur, tibia, humerus, and radius/ulna 

  3. Identify the location of important neurovascular structures for each workshop approach
