• Assess and triage the acute trauma patient
• Classify commonly encountered fractures
• Understand fracture biomechanics and bone healing
• Understand the theory and application of screws, plates, cerclage wire, intramedullary pins, and Kirschner wires
• Formulate suitable fracture reduction and stabilisation techniques for commonly encountered fractures
• Understand surgical approaches to commonly encountered fractures
• Formulate an appropriate postoperative management plan
