Instructors
This full-day course combines online learning with in-depth classroom instruction and extensive hands-on laboratory experience. Our multi-faceted educational approach equips participants with the knowledge and skills needed to confidently perform the procedure and offer advanced orthopedic services to their clients. The course covers proper use of the Small Breeds System, with a focus on preoperative planning, surgical technique, and clinical follow-up. Participants will have the opportunity to work directly with the instruments to gain a practical understanding of the surgical objectives.
Workshop Objectives
Participants of the Small Breeds Total Hip Replacement Workshop are expected to achieve familiarity with surgical instrumentation, recognize indications of THR, and depart with a solid understanding of the cup and stem surgical technique. Participants should be familiar with both press-fit and cemented acetabular cups and stems, and know when the use of each is appropriate.
Workshop Prerequisites
Participants are required to have completed, at a minimum, Universal Hip Standard and Large Breeds Mentorship Program Case Evaluation, as well as the BioMedtrix Universal Hip Small Breeds Total Hip Replacement Online Course.
Online Course
To enhance hands-on learning during laboratory exercises, the BioMedtrix® Universal Hip™ Small Breeds Online Course provides comprehensive educational materials and resources. The course includes reading assignments, visual aids, instructional videos, self-assessment activities, and moderated discussion forums. These components are designed to deepen the participating surgeon’s understanding and reinforce key concepts. Completion of the online course is mandatory before attending the hands-on lab sessions to ensure participants are fully prepared.
Product Mentorship
Completion of the Product Mentorship Program is required for surgeons who wish to offer total joint replacement as a viable option at their veterinary clinic. The program incurs additional cost and is designed to support new total joint replacement surgeons as they progress beyond attendance at a total joint replacement workshop, towards performing clinical total joint replacement procedures. Surgeons who complete this program will have demonstrated an understanding of the concepts necessary for successful clinical results. The program offers three potential pathways to practice the procedure, gain confidence, and validate a surgeon’s comprehension of the concepts required for successful clinical results. One of the following three pathways may be selected: Wet Lab (In-Person or Remote), Surgeon Assist, or Mentor Evaluation. Completion of the Mentorship Program is required to purchase implants from Movora for total joint replacement systems. The Product Mentorship Program is offered for the Universal Hip System, including both the Standard and Large Breeds System, as well as the Small Breeds System.
Movora provides all equipment and materials for each workshop.
