Workshop Description

 Learn to "be there" for your clients when surgical referral for disease or injury of the hip isn't feasible. In this workshop you'll enjoy 4.25 hours of online/anytime learning at your own pace in preparation for a full-day of hands-on surgical training. You'll learn ER and surgical management of traumatic hip luxation, spontaneous (non-traumatic) slipped capital femoral epiphysis in cats, Legg-Calve-Perthes Disease and more. During your hands-on workshop, you'll perform standard FHO, ventral FHO and open Hip Stabilization on bone models and cadavers.

Workshop Objectives

Upon completion of the online pre-course modules and the full-day hands-on workshop, you'll be able to:

  • Perform closed and open hip reduction.
  • Describe the pathogenesis, diagnosis, and treatment options for spontaneous (non-traumatic) slipped capital femoral epiphysis in cats.
  • Perform FHO from a standard craniolateral approach as well as a ventral approach.
  • SPerform toggle suture stabilization of traumatic luxation of otherwise healthy hips.
