Workshop Description

The CBLO Skills Refinement Workshop: Overcoming Challenges and Gaining Confidence is designed for veterinarians who have completed an introductory CBLO course but have additional questions with planning and /or executing the procedure confidently in their own practices. This intensive, hands-on workshop offers a comprehensive approach to refining surgical techniques and building confidence in performing CBLO for canine cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) injuries. The course will include expert-led lectures, an in-depth radiographic review, and extensive hands-on laboratory sessions, where attendees will practice the CBLO procedure on cadavers. Through repetition and detailed feedback, participants will gain a deeper understanding of the CBLO technique, improve their ability to accurately execute the procedure, and leave with the confidence to perform CBLO successfully in clinical practice. Whether you’re facing challenges with precise planning, technique, or post-operative outcomes, this workshop is designed to address these hurdles and elevate your skill level.

Workshop Objectives

Hands-on training led by expert instructors will build your confidence with accuracy and efficiency. By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Refine CBLO Surgical Techniques: Perform and improve the precision of the Cora-Based Leveling Osteotomy procedure, including accurate placement of osteotomies, hardware placement, and soft tissue management.
  • Enhance Radiographic Interpretation: Analyze radiographs to effectively plan and execute CBLO surgeries, including the identification of the correct osteotomy location and angles.
  • Optimize Surgical Planning: Understand and apply key principles of CBLO planning, including the use of templates and radiographic measurements to ensure optimal surgical outcomes.
  • Improve Postoperative Care: Recognize the importance of post-operative management and complications that may arise from CBLO surgery and develop strategies to mitigate risks and improve recovery times for canine patients.
  • Receive Constructive Feedback: Benefit from direct, hands-on guidance from experienced instructors who will offer personalized tips and troubleshooting strategies to overcome specific technical challenges participants may be facing.

This workshop will provide the tools and hands-on experience necessary to advance your CBLO skills, ensuring you leave with a greater level of competence and confidence to perform these advanced procedures in your practice.
