Workshop Description

This laboratory consists of both lecture, drylab and wetlab components. Risk factors for TPLO failure; revision strategies for TPLO failure; and decision making for selecting the right revision strategy are covered in lectures near the beginning of the day.

The wetlab allows participants to practice revision surgical strategies on canine cadavers including use of an upsized TPLO plate, double plating with a second caudomedial straight plate and TPLO revision with plate replacement and addition of an external fixator. Bone models are also included to allow participants to gain familiarity with the surgical revision strategies on the bone models before moving on to the cadaver work.

Finally, the lab includes a case-based, interactive discussion section. We obtain postoperative radiographs on the cadavers used in the lab which are distributed to participants after the lab.

This lab will include cadavers.
