Workshop description

TPLO has become a favourite technique of general and speciality veterinarians to treat CrCL tears in all sizes of dogs. The TPLO is a versatile technique that might allow simultaneous multiple corrections with proximal tibial deformity in the frontal plane (tibia varus or tibia valgus), tibial torsion, cranial bowing of the proximal tibia, excessive tibial plateau angle, or patellar luxation that may be a result of abnormal loading forces on the CrCL deficient stifle joints.

This 2-day interactive course includes lectures and hand-on training in plastic bones and cadavers to teach participants for preoperative planning and surgical execution of corrective osteotomies in conjunction with TPLO for treatment of complex tibial deformities. Postoperative radiographs are discussed to assess participant’s surgical repair.

Participants should have a good knowledge of anatomy and surgical approach to the stifle joint and bone plate applications. Attendance to a previous basic TPLO course is needed.

Prerequisites

This workshop is designed for surgical residents, specialists and general practitioners who have a good foundation in the TPLO procedure and want to deepen their orthopaedic knowledge and skills.
