Completion of the KYON THR Online Course Path and a previous KYON Total Hip Replacement Workshop are required to register for this workshop.

Note: This is an advanced workshop that teaches the technique of Total Hip Replacements in small dogs and cats, using the KYON Mini THR System. A high level of experience and skill in orthopedic surgeries is required to successfully perform these challenging Mini THR procedures without complications. Although you can attend the KYON Mini Total Hip Replacement Workshop immediately after the standard-size KYON Total Hip Replacement Workshop, we strongly recommend that surgeons have prior experience and routine in THR surgery in standard-size dogs before attempting Mini THR surgeries.

Surgeons attending this workshop must be aware that they will be expected to successfully complete a minimum of three Mini THR wet lab cases before proceeding to the clinical case mentoring of the first two Mini THR cases.

Workshop Description

This 2-day workshop consists of classroom instructions and extensive hands-on laboratory experience. This multi-faceted approach to education is designed to offer participants the necessary resources and support to sufficiently familiarize themselves with the procedure, and to embark on the journey of offering an advanced orthopedic service to their clientele.

Workshop Objectives

This Mini THR Workshop is directed at veterinary surgeons who have acquired extensive experience in orthopedic surgeries and ideally are already offering Total Hip Replacement surgeries in their practice.

This workshop will concentrate on the specifics of performing THR surgeries in feline or small dog patients. Surgeons will learn the special features of the KYON Mini THR system and will be given the opportunity to practice the technique in multiple wet labs. Individual performances will be reviewed, followed by discussion of clinical experience and best practices for Mini THR.

The primary objective of this workshop is to communicate the differences and difficulties of performing Mini THR surgery, practice in a wet lab setting, and review the cases as a group.

Product Mentorship

In order to become a qualified KYON Mini THR surgeon and offer the procedure in their clinic, surgeons who have attended a KYON Mini THR workshop must successfully complete the KYON THR Skills Assessment.

The KYON THR Skills Assessment for KYON Mini THR includes:

  • Wet Lab Case Evaluation of a minimum of 3 Mini THR cases
  • THR Clinical Case Mentorship for the first two Mini THR cases.

Additional costs are incurred.

Surgeons who complete the THR Skills Assessment will have demonstrated an understanding of the concepts necessary for successful clinical results. This next step is designed to practice the procedure, gain confidence, and validate a surgeon’s comprehension. For further information on the KYON THR Skills Assessment, please contact us at education_zh@movora.com.

Online Courses

To maximize the hands-on learning of laboratory exercises, the KYON Total Hip Replacement Online Course Path was developed to provide educational reference material and resources to thoroughly prepare surgeons for the hands-on lab. Consisting of reading assignments, visual aids, videos, and self-assessment activities, KYON online courses are designed to enhance a participating surgeon’s understanding of the material and reinforce the learning process.

Completion of the online material is MANDATORY for surgeons to be prepared to participate in the hands-on laboratory exercises. Surgeons will be enrolled automatically to the online courses included in the KYON Total Hip Replacement Online Course Path and the KYON Mini Total Hip Replacement System Online Course when purchasing the workshop (without additional fee). We recommend taking the courses one month before attending the workshop.

Requirements

Extensive experience in orthopedic surgeries and ideally existing experience in Total Hip Replacement surgeries are necessary to learn the KYON Mini THR surgical technique.

Completion of the KYON THR Online Course Path, the KYON Mini Total Hip Replacement System Online Course and completion of a previous KYON Total Hip Replacement Workshop are required to attend this workshop.

Movora provides all equipment and materials for each Workshop.
